Alcorn Sheriff Release Paths
Sheriff Ben Caldwell's office is the county jailer and the statutory keeper of the Alcorn jail docket.
The sheriff's docket can document a return to the community or a handoff. Bond means the person left jail while the case continued. Time served ties the exit to a judgment and custody calculation. A dismissal is best confirmed through the court record as well. Transfer to MDOC, another county, USMS, BOP, or ICE changes the custodian and is not a community release.
Ask for the exact wording of the disposition and the release warrant or receiving officer's receipt. Mississippi Code § 19-25-63 requires the jail docket to show how long the person was held and how released or discharged. It also requires enough history to explain the case. That makes the docket more useful than an expired web profile.
Confirm an Alcorn Sheriff Release
Prepare the full name, date of birth when appropriate, and an approximate arrest or booking date. Ask the records custodian to locate the matching jail-docket entry and booking number. A focused request seeks admission and release dates and times, the release type, releasing authority, warrant or order, destination, and transfer receipt. Ask for exempt details to be redacted rather than requesting that the whole record be withheld.
- Match the person. Give the name and a narrow booking period.
- Ask for the docket. Name § 19-25-63 and request the complete custody disposition.
- Read the release method. Separate community exit from transfer.
- Check the source. Pair a court order with the sheriff's physical-release timestamp.
No official Alcorn 24-hour or 72-hour release feed was verified. A date-bounded docket request is the sound substitute. The Alcorn County released-inmate guide explains the wider court, MDOC, VINE, and federal fallback chain.

Mississippi public-record fees are based on actual cost and may be collected in advance. Corinth's separate city policy does not establish the sheriff's charge. Keep city and county requests apart even though their offices are close on Harper Road.
Alcorn Sheriff Docket Fields
The statutory jail docket may identify the warrant or mittimus, issuing authority, prisoner, receipt or commitment, cause, length of imprisonment, and method of release or discharge. A penitentiary officer's receipt may appear when the person went to prison. A narrower county-convict docket under § 47-1-21 can include the commitment date, required time, costs, jail fees, and discharge date. Its scope should not be stretched to all detainees.
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Release method | Separates bond, discharge, and transfer |
| Releasing authority | Points to the order or court |
| Transfer receipt | Names or supports the new custodian |
The docket passes to each successor sheriff. That institutional duty is different from the life of a vendor roster page. A vanished result is only a lead, not proof that the underlying public record is gone.
Alcorn Sheriff Custodian Routing
South Harper Road contains several justice offices. The sheriff is at 2833, Corinth Police and Municipal Court are at 2837, and ACRCF is at 2839. State the legal custodian in the request. Police incident files belong with the city, municipal dispositions with the court, and county jail release history with the sheriff.
If Corinth Police made the arrest, ask if the person was cited and released, held briefly, or delivered to ACRCF. Once booked at the regional facility, the sheriff docket should document disposition. For an MDOC prisoner, the sheriff can clarify local custody, but MDOC supplies the state time sheet and discharge certificate.
Alcorn Sheriff Release Evidence
A court order and jail docket answer different questions. The order gives legal authority. The docket records the physical custody outcome and should provide the release or transfer timing. Use both when the precise sequence matters. Older Alcorn court records may also require a clerk request because the First Circuit MEC system went live in 2021.
For a state transfer, search MDOC by name or MDOC number to locate current custody. Check the separate parolee search if supervised release is expected. Neither a blank field nor the absence of a result proves final discharge. Request MDOC records for a discharge certificate or time sheet, while keeping the sheriff record as proof of what happened at the county handoff.
Alcorn Sheriff Release Limits
No official county gate time, annual release count, property pickup rule, bond schedule, transport plan, release fee, or county good-time policy was verified. Ask those questions directly for the named booking. Do not import a practice from another Mississippi jail. Staff may limit telephone disclosure, so preserve the name of the office contacted and request the written record.
Deaths, escapes, and absconding are not releases. A person removed from a live list may also have transferred or had a record corrected. Use the docket's explicit disposition. If the wording is unclear, ask which authority received the person and whether a release warrant or transfer receipt exists.
For an older Alcorn event, online absence should not end the inquiry. State retention schedules govern local record series, while § 19-25-63 establishes a jail docket that passes to each successor sheriff. Court docket books, minute books, abstracts of judgment, and judgment rolls are identified as permanent. Convicted circuit or county criminal files are generally kept for twenty years after the sentence is served, subject to approval and the exact series.
Ask the sheriff to search the durable docket by name and approximate dates. Ask the proper clerk for the judgment or release order. Retention does not promise that each document stays open without redaction. Expunction, sealing, holds, and record-specific rules may change access. Still, the end of a vendor display is not sound proof that no release record exists.
Alcorn Sheriff Request Timing
Mississippi's public-record framework gives a useful process for a jail-docket request. An agency with an adopted policy generally has seven working days to respond. Where no policy applies, the statute uses a shorter response period. A response may state whether the record exists, whether it is available, the estimated cost, and the expected production date. Production should generally occur within fourteen working days unless the requester agrees to a different schedule.
Ask for electronic delivery. Request an estimate before search, review, copying, or mailing costs exceed a stated ceiling. Fees may be collected in advance and should reflect actual cost. No Alcorn sheriff schedule specific to release entries or booking photographs was verified. Corinth's separate city rate must not be imported into a county request. If a request is denied or delayed, ask the office to identify the legal basis and the expected next step.
Pair Alcorn Release Records
The sheriff docket and court file form a strong local pair. The docket shows physical custody, the length of confinement, and how the person left. The court file shows the order, judgment, bond, dismissal, sentence, or later action that supplied legal authority. An order can exist before release processing ends, so use the docket timestamp for the physical event.
Alcorn Circuit Court participates in the First Circuit MEC system, which went live in May 2021. Older cases and documents missing online should be requested from the clerk rather than reported as nonexistent. A municipal or preliminary matter should not be forced into Circuit Court. Use the issuing court named in the jail docket, or ask the sheriff and clerk to identify it.
If the person transferred to MDOC, pair the sheriff receipt with the state record. If the person went to federal custody, pair it with the federal docket, USMS holding path, or BOP result. Each document marks one part of the chain. None should be stretched into proof of a later release that it does not record.
