A booking photo records appearance at intake. It is tied to an arrest or commitment, not to guilt and not to the person’s current location. Release does not convert the image into proof of the case result. A bond, dismissal, time-served disposition, transfer, parole release, and final discharge can all leave different records behind. The court file explains the legal disposition, while the sheriff docket states how county custody ended.
Mississippi law requires the sheriff to keep a public jail docket, but the statutes reviewed do not require every sheriff to publish booking photos online. Public-record status is also not absolute for every field or every context. Victim data, sealed material, expunged records, juvenile records, and exempt investigative details can be withheld or redacted under applicable law. The accurate course is to ask for the specific photo and request the legal basis for any denial.

No Alcorn Mugshot Feed
No official Alcorn County mugshot gallery, recent-release photo feed, or sheriff mobile photo app was verified in the official access sweep. The county sheriff page provides contact information and describes the jail-docket duty, but it does not link a public roster. The correctional facility’s informational site also did not provide a verified public released-person photo view.
This gap matters because commercial directories often imply that a county has a live photo database. Their update claims, labels, and copied images are not sheriff records. No communications or payment app should be relabeled as a public release tool just because it serves people in the facility. The defensible Alcorn County photo route begins with a booking-specific sheriff request.
Request Alcorn Booking Photos
Address the request to the Alcorn County Sheriff at 2833 South Harper Road, Corinth, Mississippi 38834. Call 662-286-5521 first and ask for the records or jail-docket custodian. No official sheriff photo form, office hours, or photo fee was found, so confirm the accepted method before traveling or sending a request. Electronic delivery can reduce handling and copy costs.
- Identify the person by full name, approximate booking date, and date of birth if appropriate. Add the booking number when known.
- Cite the Mississippi Public Records Act and ask for the booking photograph tied to that exact booking and docket entry.
- Also request admission and release date and time, release type, releasing authority, and transfer destination or receipt.
- Ask for exempt details to be redacted rather than having the whole record withheld.
- Request electronic delivery, a cost estimate, and notice before the fee exceeds a stated ceiling.
- If denied, seek the written legal basis and any segregable, nonexempt portion.
Mississippi Code § 25-61-5 governs access and response timing. An agency with an adopted policy generally has seven working days to respond, while production should generally occur within fourteen working days unless the requester agrees otherwise. Section 25-61-7 permits actual cost recovery for search, review, duplication, and mailing. No sheriff-specific rate was verified, so Corinth’s city fee must not be treated as the county sheriff’s fee.
The request should stay tied to one booking. If the sheriff says the person was not booked, ask whether aliases were checked and whether Corinth Police or another agency held the record. A municipal arrest may end with citation or court release, or it may lead to transfer to the regional facility.
Alcorn MDOC Offender Photos
The MDOC Inmate Search displays an offender image where available. Search by a unique MDOC number when possible. A name search should be matched with birth date, physical descriptors, conviction county, offense, and sentence dates. The state image may have been made at a different time and place from the Alcorn County booking, so label it as an MDOC photo.
An MDOC record can also show the current location, sentence details, and Tentative Release Date. That future date is not proof of release. A person on parole may instead appear through the separate parolee search, while someone fully discharged may be absent from both public interfaces. Request the public photograph and discharge material through MDOC records if the exact source and status matter.
The Mississippi sex offender registry is narrower. For a person who has a covered duty under Title 45 chapter 33, the official registry can show a photo, aliases, primary residence, conviction date, and offense. It is not a general list of released prisoners. Its image is a registry photo, not proof of an Alcorn County jail booking.
Check Alcorn Photo Context
Local news can preserve an arrest or incident image after a live custody listing changes. The publication date describes the news event, not current custody. A court order or sheriff docket must still answer what happened later. A report of a death, escape, transfer, or return to custody must never be described as release.
Commercial mugshot and jail directories may retain stale, mislabeled, or scraped images. They are not endorsed and receive no outbound links. At most, an old page may yield a spelling, date, or booking identifier that can be checked with the sheriff. It cannot establish when custody ended, whether the case was dismissed, or whether the image still lawfully belongs in an official public response.
Federal custody has another limit. U.S. Marshals guidance says the service does not release federal prisoner photographs, personal histories, or arrival and departure times to the public. Do not expect a USMS image even if a federal defendant was physically held in rented local space. Use the federal court docket and BOP locator for their proper records, while keeping the county booking question separate.
Note: An arrest-story image remains a past publication unless a current official source connects it to the same person and booking.
Alcorn Mugshot Access Law
The Mississippi Public Records Act makes public records available unless another law supplies an exemption. Section 25-61-12 distinguishes a public incident report from an exempt investigative report and protects victim identity and specified private data. A booking or release entry is not automatically secret merely because an investigation existed, though valid exemptions may justify redaction of some parts.
Mississippi Code § 19-25-63 is especially useful because it expressly requires a public sheriff jail docket. The entry must include the custody history and how released or discharged. Section 47-1-21 adds a narrower county-convict docket with a discharge date. Neither statute was found to impose a universal statewide duty to post every booking photograph on the web.
No current Mississippi statute specifically regulating commercial pay-to-remove mugshot sites was verified in the code sweep. Do not assume that such a law exists. Avoid paying a removal vendor based on an unsupported legal promise. Start with the originating office and the court record, then ask a publisher about its own correction or removal process if the official source has changed.
Expunged Alcorn Booking Photos
Mississippi Code § 99-19-71 provides a direct petition path when an arrest was followed by release and dismissal, dropped charges, no disposition, or acquittal. Eligible first-offender convictions follow different rules. One qualifying felony path includes a five-year period after successful completion of all sentence terms and payment of criminal fines and costs, along with statutory exclusions and court findings.
An expunction is established by the court order, not by a missing image or a failed name search. Once an order is entered, public records should reflect the law’s effect, while limited official records may remain nonpublic. Contact the court that entered the order and the agency that created the photo. Give each source a copy or case reference as requested and ask what correction or access change it will make.
Retention and web visibility are also different. Mississippi Archives and History schedules can preserve court series well after a vendor profile vanishes. Expunction, sealing, litigation holds, and exact record-series rules still control access. A page disappearing from the web does not prove the underlying public record was destroyed.
Use Alcorn Mugshots Lawfully
A photo should be used only for a lawful, purpose-neutral need such as identifying the correct booking, reconnecting with someone, checking a custody event, or preparing a court or records request. Treat the image with care. It depicts a person at booking and does not show the final case result.
