Find Alcorn County Released Inmates

Alcorn County released inmates leave the active jail view once the responsible agency records a release, transfer, or change in custody. A search for Alcorn County released inmates therefore starts with the kind of custody involved and the record created when it ended. County release records document local jail events, while state corrections and post-release supervision systems address people serving Mississippi sentences. Federal custody has separate tools. To look up a released Alcorn County inmate with care, compare the release record, court disposition, and any later supervision record instead of treating a missing roster entry as proof.

Understanding Alcorn County Releases

A person is released when a custodian records an authorized end to that custody. The result may be freedom in the community, but it may also be a handoff to another agency. That distinction is crucial in Alcorn County. The Alcorn County Regional Correctional Facility serves as both a prison and jail under county operation and an MDOC contract. A name disappearing from a local view might reflect bond, dismissal, time served, parole, earned-release supervision, transfer to MDOC, or delivery to another custodian. It does not identify the event by itself.

Sheriff Ben Caldwell's office keeps the county jail docket. Mississippi law requires that docket to state how long each prisoner was held and how the person was released or discharged. MDOC holds the sentence and release data for a state prisoner. The court file explains the order behind a bond, dismissal, sentence, or revocation. Each record answers a different part of the same question. The best proof links the person, booking, authority, date, and disposition without treating a live roster as history.

Release
The end of custody by the agency named in the record.
Discharge
Completion of a custodial or supervision obligation, as the responsible agency records it.
Transfer
A move to another legal custodian, not a release into the community.
Time served
A court-recognized sentence satisfied by time already spent in custody.

Alcorn Release Types and Custodians

The release label determines which follow-up record matters. A county detainee may leave after bond is posted, a charge is dismissed, a judge orders release, or a sentence is served. A state prisoner housed on Harper Road may instead transfer within MDOC, enter parole or earned-release supervision, or reach final discharge. Federal and immigration matters use separate systems. Death, escape, and absconding are not releases and must never be described as such.

DispositionWhat it meansBest next record
Bond or court orderLocal custody ends under court authoritySheriff jail docket plus the issuing court order
Time served or dismissalThe local case no longer supports detentionJail release entry and final court disposition
MDOC transferCounty location changes while state custody continuesTransfer receipt and MDOC location record
Parole or earned releasePrison confinement ends but supervision continuesMDOC action and Community Corrections record
Final dischargeThe recorded sentence or supervision term endsDischarge certificate or agency records response

A hold or detainer can delay departure after one case ends. Ask the sheriff whether another county, MDOC, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration authorities assumed custody. This one question often resolves the gap between a court's release order and the person's actual exit.

Fields in Alcorn Release Records

The county jail docket is more durable than a changing web roster. Under Mississippi Code section 19-25-63, it connects confinement with the manner of release or discharge. A focused request should seek enough fields to distinguish a community release from transfer. The county-convict docket required by section 47-1-21 may also supply a discharge date for the narrower group it covers.

FieldWhat it establishes
Name and booking numberLinks the disposition to the correct jail event
Receipt or commitmentShows when and under whose authority custody began
Offense or causeIdentifies the case supporting detention
Release date and timeRecords when that custodian ended physical custody
Release or discharge methodDistinguishes bond, order, time served, transfer, or other disposition
Warrant, order, or receiptNames the releasing authority or receiving custodian
Booking photographMay connect an image to the booking if it is public and retained

A release entry is not a complete life history. It proves what the named custodian recorded. Pair it with the court judgment when the legal basis matters, and with MDOC records when a state sentence or transfer is involved.

Request Alcorn County Release Records

Address a precise request to the Alcorn County Sheriff and ask that it reach the jail-docket or records custodian. Include a full name, an approximate booking or arrest date, and a date of birth only when appropriate for identification. Ask for electronic copies, a fee estimate, and notice before costs exceed a limit you choose. No sheriff-specific copy or booking-photo fee schedule was found, so a per-page amount should not be assumed.

  1. Identify the person and the approximate Alcorn County booking period.
  2. Request the jail-docket entry, admission and release time, disposition, booking number, and releasing order or transfer receipt.
  3. Ask for the booking photograph if public, with exempt material redacted rather than the whole record withheld.
  4. Request electronic delivery, a cost estimate, and the written legal basis for any denial.
  5. Follow a named transfer destination or court order with that receiving agency or clerk.

The Mississippi Public Records Act permits actual-cost reimbursement and advance payment. Current state guidance describes response rules that depend in part on an agency's adopted policy. A request should ask when records will be produced, not assume that an acknowledgment is the completed response.

Pair Alcorn Release and Court Records

Alcorn County has a useful two-record check. The Alcorn Circuit Clerk keeps criminal filings and judgments, while the sheriff docket records the physical custody disposition. A dismissal, bond order, amended sentence, or acquittal shows the legal event. The jail timestamp shows when the custodian acted on it. Those moments may differ because processing, another hold, or transfer can intervene.

Start with the court named in the jail entry. Circuit Court handles felony matters, but Justice Court or Corinth Municipal Court may hold a misdemeanor, bond, initial appearance, or preliminary record. Corinth Municipal Court meets at the Justice Center and keeps city-law and ordinance matters. If the circuit file does not match, ask the clerk or sheriff to identify the issuing court rather than concluding no case exists. Alcorn Circuit Court joined the First Circuit MEC system in 2021, so older or missing documents may still require a clerk request.

Key distinction: a court order authorizes a result; the Alcorn jail docket records the physical release or transfer.

Alcorn Release Retention and Expunction

Online visibility is not record retention. Mississippi Department of Archives and History schedules govern local records, and some court books and judgment records are permanent. Other criminal files have series-specific periods. A vendor removing a current profile does not show that the underlying sheriff or court record was destroyed. Older Alcorn release research should move from a live interface to the sheriff docket and issuing court.

Expunction is different. Under Mississippi Code section 99-19-71, a person may petition after certain arrests followed by release and dismissal, dropped charges, no disposition, or acquittal. Eligible first-offender convictions use other rules, including a waiting period for one qualifying felony. A missing search result does not prove expunction. The court order is the source, and sealed, juvenile, victim-identifying, or investigative details may remain unavailable.

If an office withholds a whole record, ask it to identify the exemption and release any segregable public parts. The incident and investigative report rule protects specified material but does not make every release field secret merely because an arrest began with an investigation.

Why Alcorn Releases Need Two Systems

The Harper Road facility creates a local search trap. An official 2025 audit describes the Alcorn County Regional Correctional Facility as a prison and jail operated by the Alcorn County Sheriff's Department under an MDOC contract and MDOC monitoring. The same building can therefore hold a local detainee whose disposition belongs in the sheriff docket and a sentenced state prisoner whose status belongs in MDOC records.

First identify the legal custodian. A county detainee's release belongs in the sheriff docket. An MDOC prisoner needs the statewide inmate and parolee systems plus an MDOC record request. A name leaving one interface could mean a community release, a state transfer, or a move into supervised status. The building name alone cannot settle that question.

Alcorn Release Counts Are Unknown

The 2025 facility audit reports a designed capacity of 360, a current population of 300, and an average daily population of 295 for the stated audit period. Those figures describe how many people the regional facility was designed to hold and its observed population. They do not state annual admissions, exits, discharge types, or average length of stay.

360Designed capacity
300Audit population
295Average daily population

Dividing a daily population by time or treating occupancy as turnover would invent an Alcorn release count the audit does not supply. A verified total would require booking and release data from the responsible custodians over a defined period.

Find Released Alcorn County Inmates

No official Alcorn 24-hour, 72-hour, or other recent-release feed was verified. A named-person search should therefore begin with the known custody type and a narrow date range, then move through the records that survive the active roster. The Alcorn 24-Hour Releases route explains how to recreate a same-day window through the docket, while older or unclear events need the full sequence below.

  1. Ask the sheriff whether the person had a county booking, an MDOC placement, or a transfer.
  2. Request the sheriff jail-docket disposition for any county stay.
  3. Search MDOC by full name or MDOC number when a state sentence may apply.
  4. Check the MDOC parolee form and the Alcorn Community Corrections office for supervised release.
  5. Compare the issuing court's final order with the physical release timestamp.
  6. Use BOP, ICE, or federal court records only when federal or immigration custody is genuinely involved.

A released person usually leaves a live jail roster. Absence can also mean transfer, correction, or another custodian, so confirm the disposition.

Alcorn Post-Release Supervision Checks

MDOC maintains a separate parolee search. A person outside prison may still be on parole, probation, post-release supervision, or earned-release supervision. Those are forms of control in the community, not final discharge. The parolee form can use a name or MDOC number and offers location filters, but an Alcorn-filtered result is not enough on its own. An observed result could show “ALCORN CC” while a separate detail field named another county.

Inspect the full detail, then call the Alcorn Probation & Parole Office at 662-286-3431. The office is at 904 South Cass Street in Corinth. It can route local supervision questions, while sentence calculations and discharge documents remain MDOC records matters. A parolee-search absence also does not prove that supervision ended. Ask MDOC for the supervision start or end status and check for a court revocation order when that issue is relevant.

An absconder or warrant notation alleges noncompliance; it does not by itself prove current incarceration. Report its source date and status, then verify with the agency.

Alcorn Release Alerts Through VINE

Mississippi uses MS SAVIN with VINE and VINELink for custody-status notifications from participating county and state systems. Search Mississippi by name or available identifier, compare the reporting agency and identity details, and read the event language closely. A release alert is not the same as a court judgment or certified jail entry. Call the source agency for that proof.

VINE events may include release, transfer or rehousing, return to custody, escape, and supervision absconding. Alcorn's mixed county and MDOC population makes that vocabulary especially important. The Registration Link can carry a county registration into MDOC or other custody after a transfer. Anyone may register anonymously through the available channels, but a direct victim of an MDOC offender should also register with MDOC Division of Victim Services for formal services.

MS SAVIN help is available at 601-359-5759 during business hours and through the 24-hour line at 1-888-9-MSSAVIN. Interface options can change. Do not assume every record offers each alert channel or a fixed PIN format.

Federal Alcorn Release Lookups

Federal tools apply only when federal custody existed. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal records from 1982 forward. Results list a register number, basic identity fields, release date, and location. A past date with no institution, or a Released result, means the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not rule out federal supervision or custody elsewhere.

The ICE Online Detainee Locator can include people currently detained and certain people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days. It is not a lasting release archive. Search with a nine-digit A-number and country of birth when known, or use biographical fields. A no-result answer can stem from release, transfer, spelling, processing delay, age limits, or restricted data. No official source showed an ICE contract site or BOP prison in Alcorn County.

The U.S. Marshals Service may place federal defendants in local space, yet it has no public historical release locator and does not promise public prisoner photos or arrival and departure times. Use the federal court docket, holding agency, BOP result where applicable, and the responsible probation office.

Compare Alcorn Custody Evidence

Each public system has a narrow role. A strong conclusion comes from matching the system to the legal population rather than searching every portal and treating silence as an answer.

SystemStill in custodyAfter release
Live county rosterMay show a current county bookingUsually drops the person; not release proof
Sheriff jail docketRecords commitmentStates how released or discharged
MDOC inmate searchShows location and sentence dataTentative date needs a final record
MDOC parolee searchNot a prison rosterSupports community supervision, not discharge
Court recordShows orders affecting custodyExplains legal disposition, not gate time
BOP locatorShows federal location when applicablePast release date ends BOP custody only

Is a blank MDOC field proof of discharge? No. A blank Location or Tentative Release Date means the public field is blank. MDOC confirmation is needed.

Alcorn County Release Systems

The local and outside systems below cover different custody paths. The regional facility is the physical jail and contracted MDOC setting. The sheriff is the statutory docket keeper. Corinth police and city court determine the municipal arrest path. MDOC and its Alcorn field office cover state custody and supervision. BOP and ICE are contingency routes, not local jail substitutes.

The sheriff, Corinth police, and regional facility sit along the same South Harper Road corridor at neighboring addresses. State the agency and custodian on each request so it does not land at the wrong office.
